Description
The Moncion dam was inaugurated in 2001 and the power station in 2002.
It was built to ensure the production of electricity, for the irrigation of different crops and to control the flow of the river.
From the dam there is a beautiful view over the valley and the province of Santiago Rodriguez, but there are no special tourist activities or attractions except nature. It remains a tourist attraction for lovers of nature and beautiful landscapes.

The Moncion dam is located in the northwest of the Dominican Republic about 53 miles from Santiago de los Caballeros, 18.6 from Santa Cruz de Maoo and 25 from San Jose de las Matas.
