Description
Salto del Gallo (rooster jumping) is a spectacular waterfall
hidden in the mountains of San Jose de las Matas, province of Santiago.
It is a great place to walk and discover the hidden beauties of the Dominican Republic. The trail is a little steep to get to the waterfall and it is strongly advised to be accompanied by a local guide. You have to walk about 2.5 miles with ravines, stones, grass, but also with fantastic landscapes.
You have to go with food and water because on the way there is nothing, like any excursion in the mountains it is imperative to take the necessary precautions with good shoes, suitable clothing, pay attention to the weather forecast and the early night, especially in winters.

Salto del Gallo is between the communities of Los Ramones and Corocito, about 18.6 miles from San Jose de Las Matas, 47 from Santiago de los Caballeros and 22 from Moncion.
