Description
Laguna Gri Gri in Rio San Juan is a natural space with a rich biodiversity, many aquatic species, birds that live in the mangroves and in the waters of the lagoon.
The inhabitants and fishermen of Rio San Juan put their boats in the lagoon which acts as a natural protection. Boat trips are offered to the many local and foreign tourists who come to visit one of the main tourist attractions of the province of Maria Trinidad Sanchez on the north coast of the Dominican Republic.
Around the Laguna Gri Gri there are many small restaurants.
Originally it was a spring that flowed into the sea, but during an earthquake in 1958, the spring turned into a lake.

It is located at the entrance of the village of Rio San Juan a few steps from Los Minos beach, coming from Cabrera. Access to the Laguna Gri Gri is free. Boat trips are chargeable.
Puerto Plata is about a 2 hour drive.
