Currently, hundreds of people make a living from the commercialization of the species of fish that abound on the lake, especially the fish commonly known as tilapia.
The Laguna Cabral is one of the most important ecotourism attraction in the south of the Dominican Republic. In its surroundings there is already a project for sustainable development and tourism in this tourist destination.
