Description
La Piedra Letrada or La Piedra de los Indios are petroglyphs carved in stone which are of Taíno origins and which are a great historical and cultural heritage for the Dominican Republic and the island of Hispaniola.
It is a very important archaeological site that was once a sanctuary for the Taino people which traces the history and culture of the people decimated by colonization.
The site is still being studied in order to better know and understand this lost culture.
Access is not very easy but it's worth the trip. The place is perfect for a picnic (take your trash) or just to visit. The site is one of the excursions not to be missed during a visit or a stay in Constanza.
