The beach of Boca Chica - Dominican Republic
Boca Chica Beach is located on the Caribbean coast 30 minutes from the capital Santo Domingo, on the Caribbean coast of the Dominican Republic. The beach is quite big and the water is shallow. Many restaurants and bars are located all along the beach.
A popular family beach on the Caribbean Sea
The beach of Boca Chica is very busy on weekends and holidays by the inhabitants of the capital, indeed it is one of the nearest beaches of Santo Domingo, with the beach of Juan Dolio.
The sea is calm, warm and shallow because protected by a large coral reef that forms a bay (San Andres bay). In the bay are three small islands (Los Pinos, La Matica and La Piedra) that serve as shelters for birds.
All along the beach are bars restaurants that can refresh and eat, they mainly offer Dominican dishes based on fish and seafood.
There are many itinerant merchants who come to propose paintings, souvenirs, glasses, CDs ... they are a little invasive but it is part of the decor !!!
Boca Chica has many small hotels and appart-hotels and all inclusive hotels, the Whala Boca Chica, the Be Live Hamaca Beach and the Dominican Bay.
In the early 50s, 60s and 70s it was the fashionable beach where the rich Dominicans had a second home and came to spend the holidays. Over the years other tourist spots have grown (Juan Dolio, Punta Cana, Bayahibe, Puerto Plata Samana...). With democratization it has become a popular beach but it is still famous among foreign tourists.
