El Derrumbao Beach - Bani - Dominican Republic
El Derrumbao beach is located south of Baní, in Las Salinas, on Las Calderas Bay, one hour from Santo Domingo, in the south of the Dominican Republic.
A beautiful beach behind the salt mine.
Playa Derrumbao is in La Salinas, about 30 minutes south of Bani.
The black sand beach is difficult to access, to get there by land you have to skirt the coast after passing the dunes, Salinas beach and Punta Salinas, it is highly recommended to have an adapted vehicle (buggy or 4x4). Otherwise, the other possibility is by boat.
Derrumbao beach has no trees, to have shade you have to bring an umbrella. There are no shops in the area, so you have to bring everything you need, food, a place to sit, etc.
On one side there are waves that come directly from the Caribbean Sea, on the other side are the completely calm and temperate waters of the Ocoa Bay. This beach is ideal for snorkeling.
On the beach there are many small fishing boats.
To return, instead of going through Bani, take the road to Palmar de Ocoa, a few kilometers to the left coming from Las Salinas. This road runs along Ocoa bay and offers magnificent views of the bay. After Palmar de Ocoa there are numerous luxury houses along the coast belonging to the Dominican bourgeoisie and some small hotels (Hotel Ibiza).
