Las Ballenas beach Las Terrenas
Playa Las Ballenas is one of the many beaches of Las Terrenas (province of Samana), it is located to the west of the village, from the Fishing Village (Pueblo de los Pescadores) for several kilometers, it takes about 30 minutes on foot to go from one end to the other of the beach.
Las Ballenas: a big and beautiful beach in Las Terrenas
It owes its name to its shape that looks like a whale's back. The first part, from the Fishermen's Village to the hotel Alisei is pretty windy depending on the season, the second is much quieter because it is sheltered from the prevailing winds that come from the northeast. The west side of Playa Las Ballenas is perfect for seeing beautiful sunsets.
A small paved road, passable by car, runs along Playa Las Ballenas Las Terrenas and separates the beach from hotels, villas and residence located on the seafront.
The sea is calm, it is protected by a small coral reef which allows to have a warm water, calm and shallow. The beach is clean because it is cleaned daily by municipal employees and employees of hotels, villas and residences.
At the end of the beach there is a small nautical base that rents canoes, kayaks and Hobie Cat.
