Las Terrenas is located in the northeast of the Dominican Republic, on the Atlantic coast, in the Samana Peninsula.

It is a small village in full swing with beautiful beaches lined with coconut trees, the large sunny beaches are surrounded by green hills, Las Terrenas is a small paradise. Stuck between the sea and green hills, Las Terrenas is a small tourist village in the north-east of the Dominican Republic, in the province of Samana.

In the 80s-90s, before the construction of the John Paul II highway, Las Terrenas was quite isolated from the south of the country and the main airport of Santo Domingo (Las Americas). To get there it took about 4 hours of cars passing through small, poorly maintained secondary roads. The commissioning of the north-east motorway has opened Las Terrenas, which is only about 2 hours from the capital of the Dominican Republic, and favored its development. Today the village has many hotels, aparthotels, residences, villas to welcome tourists from all over the world, restaurants, bars, discotheques, supermarkets, pharmacies...

Las Terrenas is a small paradise, with kilometers of beaches (Coson, Bonita, Las Ballenas, Punta Popy...) all as beautiful as each other, a turquoise and warm sea, forests of coconut trees, a generous and abundant nature.

In addition to the beach, the visitor can do some excursions like the waterfall El Limon, the park Los Haitises, practice water sports such as surfing, kitesurfing, deep-sea fishing, sailing ... Visit the nearby villages of El Limon and Sanchez, go to Santa Barbara de Samana and Las Galeras to enjoy even more heavenly beaches.

This small corner of the Dominican Republic has everything you need for a pleasant holiday but also to live there. Many foreigners of all nationalities (French, Italian, Dutch, Canadian, American...) have chosen to emigrate to this little corner of paradise. So much so that sometimes, in some places, it feels like you're not in the Dominican Republic !!!

Las Terrenas is a peaceful and quiet village where it is good to live and to spend holidays.

Beach of the village

It is located in the village itself, it is a beautiful and large white sand beach, lined with coconut trees (as usual !!!) with a few restaurants and bars along the road that even in El Portillo.
The only flaw is the presence of many dogs.

Playa Las Ballenas

To the west of the village, it is possible to go on foot or by car from the village of Las Terrenas.

Playa Bonita

It is located to the west of the village, separated from the village of Las Terrenas by Punta Bonita, a rocky point. Playa Bonita has experienced a strong development with the construction of villas, apartments...

Playa Coson

Further west than Playa Bonita, Playa Coson is a huge beach, lined with coconut palms and still wild. The sea is beautiful but swimming is not great because of the presence of rocks near the edge, it is probably why it is still virgin. Access is by car, there are two entrances to Playa Coson, where is located on each of them, a small local bar and restaurant.

It is located on the road towards El Limon, it is the beach of the hotel Bahia Principe El Portillo.

Playa El Limon is a beautiful, big, wild beach, about 15 kms from the village.
