Description
Salto de la Jalda National Park is located on the edge of Los Haitises Park.
The park was created in 2009 to protect the flora and fauna of this little-known region of the Dominican Republic which is home to one of the highest waterfalls in the Caribbean.
The park is quite difficult to access and it is strongly advised to use the services of a local guide. The path to access the waterfall is about 7 kilometers, there are no indications or markings. The vegetation is dense, it is a tropical forest with many species of trees and plants.
Few tourists visit Salto de la Jalda national park, a few tourists come by helicopter from Punta Cana/Bavaro to admire the waterfall while the more courageous come on foot because the hike is extraordinary for nature lovers.
