I can not say the same for the time that I stayed at the hotel. I liked the atmosphere and I felt very comfortable during my stay.

The service at La Arcada in Santo Domingo was terrible. The owner, Claudio was rude, threatening, and dishonest. We had called in advance to make a reservation, but when we arrived they did not have our reservation on record. The room they ultimately put us in had construction going on next door, within the hotel, with constant noise. The shower sparked and smelled of electric fire when we attempted to put on the hot water. The wireless internet that they advertised only actually worked in the stairwell

I had such a bad time at La Arcada, I left after two nights. I called a week in advance to book a recommended Room #18. The person on the phone said everything was set. Upon arrival, the room had not been reserved. There was loud construction in the hotel during the day, and in the wall behind the room from a different building. The owner insisted they had the best authentic Dominican food, but it was terrible. The woman cooking was rude, and the food was boring, over-salted and overpriced.
