It is a small town that lives farming and trade with the Haitian neighbor, it is located in the far west of the Dominican Republic, more than 87 miles (140 km) from Santo Domingo. It is border with Haiti.
Tourism is non-existent despite the Nalga de Maco National Park
and the Sierra Neiba National Park, which is conducive to ecotourism.
To go to Comendador you have to go through the cities of San Cristobal, Bani, Azua, San Juan de la Maguana and Las Matas de Farfan.
