Boca Chica - Dominican Republic

Boca Chica is a very popular beach in Cap Caucedo in the Dominican Republic, about 30 kilometers (18 miles) from the capital Santo Domingo. In the past, it was just a fishing village in the middle of a former center of sugar production, but it is now one of the most visited resorts in the Dominican Republic.

Tourism development of Boca Chica began in 1950, when dictator Rafael Leonidas Trujillo ordered the construction of a modern hotel, then named "Hotel Hamaca" today the Be Live Hamaca.

Proximity to Santo Domingo, crystal clear waters, shallow waters makes it one of the most popular beaches in the Dominican Republic. The beach is surrounded by a coral reef and the water is a spectacular turquoise blue, surrounded by lush gardens with palm trees.

Boca Chica has two small islands: Los Pinos, the product of dredging in the port of Andres in the 1950s, and La Matica, a cay, which is home to several species of birds, and that you can walk from the beach when the tide is low.

On weekends, the beach is full of foreign and local visitors, who come to enjoy the wonderful natural conditions offered by this major tourist destination in the Dominican Republic.

Boca Chica has four all-inclusive hotels and many small hotels and aparthotels for all budgets, in the night the main street (Calle Duarte) is closed to traffic and bars and restaurants put tables and chairs in the street with music.
The main attraction of this tourist town, in addition to its beach and its animation, is the proximity to the capital Santo Domingo.

Boca Chica beach

Nice beach but with many people on weekends and holidays, Boca Chica is a favorite beach of the people of Santo Domingo. The sea is calm and the water is shallow, the beach is ideal for children. Along the beach is many small restaurants and bars to eat local dishes or internationals.

Visit Santo Domingo and the Colonial Zone are only 30 minutes drive from Boca Chica, the Colonial Zone is one of the major tourist attractions of the Dominican Republic, the first city in the Americas.

La Caleta Underwater Park

The La Caleta Underwater Park is located by side of the Las Americas airport. The waters of this region are rich in coral reefs and fish. Four wrecks were purposely sunk to promote the development of the fauna and flora and offer a privileged environment for divers.

Very difficult to live here ... Boca Chica is becoming more and more dirty.

To avoid for excursions Pedro Diaz Tour. Rotten excursions, rotten food, non-existent guide except for Russians. Cheap at first but after all is extra !!!!!

Boca Chica is a small town "special" !!!
